Birmingham – East Asian Business Investors Summit

Birmingham 300In his role as Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group for East Asian Business, Lord Wei helped lead a Birmingham – East Asian Business Investors Summit on October 28th in  Parliament. About 60 people, including investors from the Far East, attended. The event heard from Liam Byrne MP, co-vice chairman of the APPG, Sir David Eastwood, vice-chancellor of Birmingham University, Marketing Birmingham chief executive Neil Rami, Tim Pile, president of the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce and James Hunter Johnston, marketing manager of NVC Lighting, an inward investment by a Chinese company located in Birmingham. Representatives from the Chinese Embassy, the China-Britain Business Council and the British Chamber of Commerce in China were also present. The event was held to encourage direct investment from China into the West Midlands and grow an appetite among the Chinese investor community to learn more, develop relationships and identify opportunities over the coming years. In addition, China is the largest export market for the West Midlands and supply about 50% of all UK goods shipped to China.]]>
